Mikrobielle Dialoge: zelluläre Kommunikation in Schimmelpilzen
摘要
Cell fusion contributes to colony development in many filamentous fungi. The fusing cells employ an unusual signaling mechanism and create a cellular dialogue by taking turns in signal sending and receiving. Surprisingly, this mechanism also mediates interactions between distantly related species, where the presence of one fungus can alter the development of the other. These unexpected findings raise new questions about the role and function of fungal interspecies communication in nature.
