Renal Mixed and Epithelial Stromal Tumour in a 9-Year-Old-A Rare Neoplasm
摘要
A 9-year-old female child presented with a huge intra-abdominal swelling occupying almost all the quadrants of the abdomen, with complaints of heaviness in the abdomen after a diet. Ultrasound revealed a huge space-occupying lesion originating probably from the right kidney. CT scan with contrast showed a fairly well-defined isodense soft tissue tumour extending from below the liver to the urinary bladder and crossing the midline, originating from the right kidney, with the provisional diagnosis being Wilm’s tumour. The patient underwent right radical nephrectomy, and the histopathology was renal Mixed Epithelial and Stromal Tumour (MEST), which was confirmed with Immunohistochemistry. This case highlights one of the uncommon benign tumours of the kidney in a paediatric age group. This is one of the youngest patients to be diagnosed and reported with MEST in the literature.
