How Do I Do It? One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass—Tijuana Technique
摘要
Obesity is considered a global public health issue. Over the past decades, multiple treatments have been developed. However, bariatric and metabolic surgery has proven to be the most effective. A great number of techniques and procedures have been introduced and documented in the literature. The Mini Gastric Bypass has recently gained popularity due to its proven effectiveness and a shorter learning curve for surgeons. This technique involves a single anastomosis and aims to reduce the risk of complications associated with traditional gastric bypass. Variations of the procedure have been reported in different countries. The city of Tijuana has emerged as a major center for bariatric surgery over the past decade and is a key destination for medical tourism in this field. With a high volume of patients and procedures, a group of local surgeons has developed a modification to the one-anastomosis bypass technique to lower complication rates while preserving its metabolic benefits.
