摘要

Recently, aiming at carbon-neutrality, more and more attention is being paid to development of hydrogen internal combustion engines. In the present study, direct injection hydrogen engine experiments were conducted in an engine that was converted from a gasoline engine. The characteristics of hydrogen engine operation under highly lean conditions were investigated to identify the key H2-engine design factors and configuration. The energy balance analysis of the results showed that the hydrogen engine operation has reduced heat loss, but increased gas exchange loss, compared to the corresponding gasoline engine operation. Simple turbocharger-engine matching calculations revealed the behavior and reasons for hydrogen engine’s decrease in low-speed torque and suggested that employment of two-stage turbocharger or turbocharger optimization are necessary to improve the torque characteristics of the hydrogen engine at low speeds.
