<p>Understanding how environmental conditions and habitat structure shape the spatio-temporal variation in the taxonomic and functional diversity of coral-associated crustaceans is key to monitoring coral reef decline. Coral loss has major consequences for biodiversity because corals support diverse ecological interactions. The spatio-temporal variation in the taxonomic and functional diversity of crustaceans was evaluated in four Mexican central Pacific coral communities during dry and rainy seasons from 2017 to 2019. Alpha taxonomic diversity was assessed using completeness-based rarefactions and asymptotic profiles, and functional indices and taxonomic beta diversity were evaluated using PERMANOVA models. Canonical additive partitioning explored relationships with environmental and benthic variables. Species composition was mainly influenced by environmental factors, whereas functional diversity responded to habitat structure. Crustacean assemblage was related to <i>Pocillopora</i> cover, suggesting coral loss may lead to niche filtering, whereas increased coral cover could promote competition.</p>
