The new species resembles <i>B. cristata</i>, but can be distinguished by its slender, scrambling habit, entire bracteole margin, ovate to broadly ovate outer sepals, lanceolate inner sepals, ovary shape, disc margin, and glabrous style base.</p>

Barleria monoranjanii, a new species of Barleria subg. Barleria, is described from the sub-Himalayan regions of Paschimbanga and Sikkim, India, along with photographs.
