Revision of Malvaceae names from Vellozo’s Florae Fluminensis
摘要
This study presents a comprehensive review of 59 plant binomials corresponding to 42 species within Malvaceae sensu lato, as documented in Friar Vellozo's Florae Fluminensis, an historically significant floristic treatment in Brazil. For each name, we provide updated nomenclatural summaries, concise taxonomic descriptions, nomenclatural notes, and geographic distribution details. Additionally, we designate lectotypes for 65 names, including currently accepted names and new synonyms, with two second-step lectotypifications. We also propose six new combinations based on Vellozo's original descriptions and illustrations. This research contributes to our understanding of the botanical nomenclature of Malvaceae and highlights the historical relevance of Florae Fluminensis, particularly for the Atlantic Forest.
