摘要

Bolivia is home to about 15,500 plant species, including around 2,400 endemics. The Leguminosae is the third most speciose family in the country, with about 1,200 species of which c. 100 are endemic. As part of our ongoing revision of the genus Macropsychanthus, we here describe M. elegans, which is characterised by its canescent, sericeous leaflets, keel petals with a straight beak and oblong pods. This new species is found in just four locations in Bolivia, in the transition zone between the Andes and the Amazon. We also revised the recorded species of Macropsychanthus in Bolivia, which have binomials in the genus Dioclea, thereby excluding nine of the previously recorded 14 species. As a result, Bolivia hosts six species, of which two are endemic. This study enhances our understating of Macropsychanthus taxonomy and distribution, particularly in the Amazonian, Andean and Cerrado regions.
