<p>This work investigates the effect of CrN coating deposited by PVD technique on the fatigue behavior of case carburized 20MnCr5 grade steel specimens. Fatigue testing of uncoated and CrN PVD coated 20MnCr5 specimens as per ASTM E 739 (2015) criteria revealed a reduction in fatigue life for coated specimens in comparison to the uncoated case carburized specimens. The difference in fatigue life of uncoated and coated specimens has been observed almost constant at various stress levels. The Dixon-Mood approach estimated mean endurance limit to be 730 MPa for uncoated and 687.5 MPa for coated specimens respectively.</p>
