Extrakranielle Karotisstenose: Prävalenz, Diagnostik und Therapie
摘要
Surgical and also endovascular procedures for the treatment of symptomatic or asymptomatic stenosis of the internal carotid artery (ICA) are firmly established in the current guidelines. All guidelines accordingly discuss the individually varying recommendations on revascularization principally based on randomized controlled studies (RCT) and their meta-analyses. The most recent advances, including emerging novel endovascular treatment methods and techniques, in association with recent clinical results, provide important insights for an optimal patient selection and treatment. This interdisciplinary consensus paper incorporates the most recent advances in the field, and both surgical and endovascular treatment strategies for the treatment of the extracranial ICA as well as the advances in the optimal pharmacotherapy. The aim of this consensus paper is to present a framework for diagnostic and therapeutic measures of extracranial ICA stenosis in the outpatient and inpatient sectors from an interdisciplinary perspective. This ensures an evidence-based comprehensive care of patients with extracranial carotid artery stenosis. The contents of the individual chapters were revised and adapted to the current literature.
