Development and Validation of a Miniaturized Two-Step Neutral and Acidified Acetonitrile Extraction Method for Simultaneous Determination of Pesticides, Veterinary Drugs, and Mycotoxins in Eggs by UHPLC-MS/MS

This study aimed to develop and validate an attractive two-step neutral and acidified acetonitrile extraction method for the simultaneous determination of pesticides, veterinary drugs, and mycotoxins in eggs by UHPLC-MS/MS. A simple miniaturized solvent extraction method followed by extract concentration was proposed for sample treatment without the need for subsequent extract cleanup steps. Satisfactory recoveries (70 to 120%), with relative standard deviations below lower than 22%, were achieved for 285 compounds. The limits of quantification ranged from 0.1 to 50 µg kg−1. Calibration plots with R2 ≥ 0.99 were obtained for all analytes. The validated method was successfully employed for the analysis of egg samples collected from local supermarkets in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The results obtained demonstrate its high-throughput and suitability for routine analysis.
