摘要

Work passion is widely recognised as an important construct in both popular and scientific discourse, linked to a broad range of outcomes and antecedents. However, despite the importance of the Dualistic Work Passion Scale (Marsh et al., 2013; Vallerand & Houlfort, 2003) and the recently introduced Work Passion Scale (Chen et al., 2020) for advancing research on work passion, the number of available translations remains limited, and neither has been adapted into Slovak. Furthermore, the nomological network of the newly introduced General Work Passion Scale remains largely unexplored. In the present set of studies, we examined and expanded the understanding of the factor structure and nomological network of these scales through both classical and network approaches. Specifically, in two pilot studies (N = 342 in total), we found support for the unidimensional factor structure of the General Work Passion Scale. However, we identified challenges with the two-factor Dualistic Work Passion Scale. We also examined the discriminant and incremental validity of the two scales and their relationships with more than 30 correlates of work passion(s), providing evidence for convergent validity and extending existing knowledge of the nomological network. In the main study (N = 721), we replicated and built upon the main findings, providing further insights. For example, the network approach revealed distinctive patterns of item associations. Moreover, a latent network analysis was conducted encompassing work passion alongside contemporary conceptualisations of burnout complaints and workaholism, providing insights into the interrelations among these related yet conceptually distinct constructs. Implications for the future development and refinement of work passion scales are discussed.
