摘要

Since COVID-19, videoconferencing has become increasingly common in workplace settings due to its efficiency advantages, yet it has also been associated with negative outcomes, notably videoconference fatigue (VF). Although prior studies have examined multiple factors related to VF, comprehensive measurement tools tailored to workplace contexts remain limited. To address this gap, this study aimed to develop and validate the Antecedents to Videoconference Fatigue Scale in the Workplace (AVFS-WP). Two studies were conducted. Study One recruited 610 working adults to examine the scale’s internal structure and refine an a priori candidate item set, and Study Two recruited 948 working adults to provide external validation by examining associations between AVFS-WP dimensions and VF in an independent sample. The final AVFS-WP consists of 13 items capturing four workplace-relevant antecedent dimensions: psychological, technical, social, and communication overload. The results indicate that the AVFS-WP demonstrates strong reliability and construct validity, and its dimensions show robust associations with VF. The AVFS-WP provides researchers and practitioners with a validated instrument for systematically identifying salient workplace precursors of videoconference fatigue and informing organizational interventions.
