Construct and criterion-related validity of the revised abbreviated self-leadership questionnaire (revised-ASLQ) in a collectivist cultural context
摘要
This research aims to validate the 12-item Revised-Abbreviated Self-Leadership Questionnaire (Revised ASLQ Scale) within the collectivist culture. The validation process was carried out in two consecutive studies. Study 1 examined construct validities of the 38-item RSLQ Chinese version scale and the 12-item Revised ASLQ scale. Cronbach’s alphas, correlations, and confirmatory factor analyses were used to verify the 12-item Revised ASLQ. Study 2 tested its criterion-related validity with positive organizational behaviors, namely thriving at work, psychological empowerment, and employee’s voice behavior. Participants were Indonesian employees with at least one year of experience in their current organization; 428 employees participated in Study 1, and 219 in Study 2. Study 1 results showed that the Revised-ASLQ has acceptable reliability and validity. Study 2 results showed that self-leadership, measured with Revised-ASLQ, related positively to employee voice behavior via psychological empowerment and thriving at work. These results imply that Revised-ASLQ is qualified as a suitable substitute for the RSLQ and can capture the generality of self leadership while also acknowledging its multidimensional nature.
