<p>Language shapes thinking patterns and cognitive abilities, and associative memory is an important process of cognitive processing. This study examined the effects of linguistic experiences with different conceptual word expressions on conceptual representations and associative memory of Zhuang and Han students through three experiments. Experiment 1 adopted artificial symbols to represent species and genus concepts to explore the differences in conceptual representations between Zhuang and Han students. Experiments 2 and 3 explored differences in inter-item associative memory within domains and inter-item associative memory across domains using an associative reconsideration paradigm. The results showed that: different language experiences resulted in different conceptual representations and species-genus conceptual processing modes for Zhuang and Han students; different language experiences affected the linkage recognition scores of species-genus and genus-species associations; and there was a second-language memory dominance effect on cross-domain inter-item associative memory for Zhuang students.</p>
