<p>To explore the current situation of problem gambling behavior among a low-income rural population in China, with consideration of the impacts of social exclusion and relatedness need.&#xa0;A social exclusion experience scale, a problem gambling severity index, and a relatedness need scale were used to survey 698 low-income individuals in western rural China.&#xa0;(1) The psychological measurement network structure of problem gambling among the low-income rural population was stable, with core symptoms being “excitement from gambling” and “gambling-related health issues”; (2) Social exclusion mainly affected the symptom of “excitement from gambling” in the problem gambling network, while relatedness need mainly affected the symptom of “gambling-related financial issues”; (3) Relatedness need played a mediating role between social exclusion and problem gambling.&#xa0;Social exclusion and relatedness need can influence the symptoms of problem gambling among low-income rural populations in China through specific contact points, while social exclusion can also increase problem gambling behavior by inhibiting one’s satisfaction of their relatedness need.</p>
