摘要

Based on trait activation theory, this study investigated the association between growth need strength and innovation performance, as well as the mediating effect of learning from failures and the moderating effect of inclusive leadership. Data were collected from 391 full-time employees in 74 innovation teams using a 3-phase time-lag method. The results revealed that employee growth need strength has a positive effect on learning from failures. Inclusive leadership reinforces the positive impact of employees’ growth need strength on learning from failures, which, in turn, enhances their innovation performance. This study provides academics with a new perspective for explaining the link between growth need strength and innovation performance. Moreover, it also offers important insights for organizations to stimulate employee growth need strength.
