<p>This research aimed to elaborate a model that explains the concept and construction of the workaholic climate and create the Chinese workaholic climate scale (CWCS) through three studies. In study 1, a three-step coding process was conducted to classify the theoretical construction of the workaholic climate based on grounded theory. In study 2, three rounds of questionnaires were distributed to develop the CWCS, resulting in a 27-itme scales representing overwork, work-priority, perfectionistic, and result-oriented. Additionally in study 3, hierarchical linear analysis was performed on 546 samples to verify its positive impact on the innovation performance of scientific research personnel. This research advances academic understanding in the field of workaholic climate, extends the theory from the individual to the organizational level, and verify the validity of the developed CWCS. Future research should expand to larger sample sizes, investigate the negative effects of workaholic climate, and explore the matching issues between different individuals’ traits and the workaholic climate, thereby promoting the long-term development of this field.</p>
