摘要

Current research categorizes corporate crises into product-functional and value-related. Given these differences, it is critical to understand how firms can tailor their response strategies, enhance crisis management and build better relationships with consumers. Using consumer negativity as a mediator, this paper provides insights into the effects of combining crisis type and coping strategies on consumers’ tendency to share negative feedback. The findings suggest that responsibility-oriented coping strategies are better at suppressing negative feedback in product functionality crises, while empathy-oriented approaches are more effective in value-related crises. The interaction between crisis types and negative feedback coping strategies was mediated by consumers’ negative emotions. This study adds depth to the corporate crisis communication literature and provides insights into effective crisis response strategies.
