<p>In the Norwegian governments’ integration strategy of 2019–2022, “integration in everyday life” was introduced as a new perspective on integration. Central to integration in everyday life are the softer dimensions of integration focusing on individuals’ subjective perceptions, experiences, emotions, and interpersonal connections. The aim of this article is to critically analyse the concept of integration in everyday life. Central scholars in the field of everyday life theories and immigrant incorporation are used to establish a critical understanding of integration in everyday life. I discuss the good intentions of the concept, with its focus on subjective experiences, participation, and the involvement of several actors in society. However, policy and practice show problematic implications of the use of the term <i>everyday life</i>, which is often understood as <i>Norwegian</i> everyday life. The concept of integration in everyday life is therefore perceived as more assimilation-based than integrational. I conclude that more critical theoretical analysis should be undertaken when new concepts are proposed, particularly when those new concepts are used in policy documents that have real effects on people’s everyday lives, and that arguments based on the concept of emplacement would be more suitable for developing everyday life perspectives in an integration context.</p>
