摘要

The Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 triggered an inflow of humanitarian migrants to Europe, comparable to the influx seen during the 2015–2016 peak of the Syrian refugee crisis. In this research note, we examine whether the political polarisation observed following the Syrian refugee crisis can also be found in response to the arrival of Ukrainian refugees. To this end, we use survey data collected in June and July 2022 in Denmark, Sweden and France. We track attitudes toward Ukrainian refugees across four previously unexplored dimensions: settlement, economic impact, and integration. Our findings indicate that the inflow of Ukrainian refugees did not lead to ideological polarisation along the left–right spectrum in Denmark and Sweden, and only led to moderate polarisation in France.
