摘要

Community vitality is a critical measure of the well-being and resilience of communities that reflects their ability to thrive amidst social, economic, cultural, and political changes. This study proposes a comparative measurement model to assess community vitality among the Chinese and Nepali communities in the Indian context. The research employs Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to develop a robust assessment tool. The findings indicate that the vitality measurement varies with respect to the community ambitions and aspirations. The Chinese community is driven by aspirations for economic mobility and cultural preservation, and exhibits higher engagement in civic activities and trans-regional business networks. In contrast, the Nepali community prioritises local social cohesion, relying more on institutional trust and intra-community support systems. The result also reveals that although both communities prioritise ethnic inclusivity, their approaches diverge in significant ways. To summarise, this research analyses the specific challenges faced by these communities in different dimensions. The Chinese community’s involvement can be increased by developing multicultural engagement zones and strengthening civic infrastructure, while the Nepali community can benefit from focused social programmes that build institutional trust and regional economic endeavours.
