<p>This article explores the perceptions of Jewish Israeli women from extreme ultra-Orthodox circles regarding strict modesty norms in women’s clothing. Through semi-structured interviews with 30 ultra-Orthodox women from extreme ultra-Orthodox circles, the research identified seven central discourses reflecting the women’s perspectives on modesty norms: the religious discourse, the redemption discourse, the aesthetic discourse, the identity and identity pride discourse, the continuity discourse, the violent discourse, and the critical discourse. Most of these discourses emphasize the inherent importance of silencing the sexual instincts of males, while completely disregarding women’s sexual drive. The article analyzes these discourses, discusses their implications, presents the study’s limitations, and provides recommendations for future research.</p>
