<p>In academia, journal-indexing platforms are essential for academic societies to succeed as researchers rely on these platforms to access information about publication processes. This paper discusses the design and evaluation of a new journal-finding platform based on the shortcomings of two current journal-finding platforms as these benchmark systems did not meet researchers’ needs. The new platform offers several advantages, including improved usefulness, efficiency, productivity, usability and acceptance among researchers. User-centered design techniques were used in this research, including a survey, user-based tests and questionnaires. Comparative evaluation results showed a significant improvement in user task performance using the new journal-finding platform. In the beginning, 100 researchers were asked for their opinions on the current user experience, after which 30 participants completed six user-based tasks and 12 questionnaire questions. The accuracy (successful task completion rates) of the benchmark platforms (Jindex and Journal Guide) was 40.6 percent and 73.9 percent, respectively, while the accuracy of the new platform (Journal List) reached 90.0 percent. The proposed new platform significantly reduces practical task workload, which could benefit academic and non-academic researchers during publication processes.</p>
