<p>The aim of the present research was to explore the correlation between thyroid function and diabetes mellitus type 1 and type 2 in men and women of different ages. Research was conducted at diabetes and endocrinology center of the Al-Haboubi Hospital in Nasiriyah city and at the Al-Qalah laboratory from 15 December 2022 to 1 March 2023. Sixty samples (30 from men and 30 from women) suffering from Type 1 DM. Another sixty samples taken from 30 men and 30 women suffering from Type 2 DM. Each mentioned 30 samples (Men or Women) included: the control group included 10 samples from healthy people, 10 diabetic patients aged 30–45 years. Finally, 10 diabetics patients aged 46–60 years old. So, the all become 120 samples. The study concluded that the concentrations of T3 and T4 in male subjects increased in group the 46–60 years old group with type 1 diabetics as compared with control and 30–45 years groups, but the studied hormones increased at both studied ages in women with type 1 diabetes. In addition to, the levels of T3 and T4 were elevated in the serum of Type 2 DM elderly diabetic men and reduced in menopause diabetic women as compared with healthy controls.</p>
