Study of Endoscopic Characteristics of Laryngeal Lesions in Patients with Prolonged Endotracheal Intubation
摘要
To describe the incidence and type of laryngeal lesions in patients with prolonged intubation after doing tracheostomy. A cohort study involving 65 study patients of age group 6-79yrs , submitted to intubation for more than 72hrs referred to department of otorhinolaryngology for tracheostomy. After doing tracheostomy ,a flexible fiberoptic laryngoscopy (FFL) was performed under local anaesthesia and laryngotracheal alterations were studied. Fibreoptic flexible laryngoscopy can show a wide range of alterations. Depending upon the severity we can delay or proceed with the decannulation.
