A Comparative Study to Assess the Efficacy of Intratympanic Corticosteriods and Oral Corticosteroids in Individuals Having Sudden Sensory Neural Hearing Loss Presenting Within 2 to 6 Weeks of Onset
摘要
To determine the efficacy of intratympanic corticosteroids in late presenting (2 weeks to 6 weeks) sudden onset sensory neural hearing loss patients. Out of 45 patients, 50% received oral corticosteroids and in rest of the patients intra tympanic steroids were given (dexamethasone 8 mg) every 7 days interval for 4 weeks. Audiogram was performed for each patient- pre and post treatment. Group receiving intratympanic steroids showed favourable, though statistically non-significant, trend toward superior auditory outcomes. Patients having intratympanic injection along with other treatments are presumed to show better results than oral counterparts.
