<p>Odontogenic Keratocyst (OKC), a developmental cyst, tends to be the most aggressive, with a high recurrence rate out of all odontogenic cysts reported. Adenomatoid odontogenic tumour (AOT), a hamartomatous slow-growing odontogenic tumour of the oral cavity, with many biochemical markers identified for both, but none of the studies have been conducted on the same for expression of AJUBA. Thus, this study proposes the following research question: Is the expression of AJUBA is seen in cases of odontogenic cyst and tumour?. Three previous histopathologically diagnosed cases of both AOT as well as OKC were retrieved from archives. Their paraffin-embedded wax blocks containing tissues were send for immunohistochemical procedures and the slides obtained were then examined. The positive expression was seen in both the cases of OKC as well as AOT where epithelial cells’ nuclei were in proliferating stage. Mean IHC score (= 2) was almost found to be almost same in both the cases. AJUBA can be used to assess the proliferation index in both the cases of odontogenic cyst as well as tumour. studies including increased sample size along with its expression in other lesions is the need of the hour in order to provide solid scientific research background for the same. This present pilot study, is first amongst its kind to correlate its expression in both odontogenic cyst and tumour. Such study would help in increased understanding of the pathogenesis of such lesions and targeting such molecules would help in providing increased quality of care to the patients.</p>
