Case Report on Acquired External Canal Atresia: Clinical Perspectives, Surgical Management, and Outcomes
摘要
Acquired external canal atresia (AECA) is a rare condition caused by chronic inflammation, trauma, or infection, often complicated by cholesteatoma and conductive hearing loss. We report a 55-year-old female with left-sided AECA and recurrent otitis externa. Imaging revealed canal stenosis with middle ear involvement. The patient underwent transmastoid canaloplasty with cholesteatoma excision and external canal reconstruction using a temporalis fascia graft. At three months follow-up, the canal remained patent with improved hearing thresholds. This case highlights the importance of early diagnosis, meticulous surgical technique, and careful postoperative follow-up in AECA management.
