Background <p>Pseudocyst pinna is a benign condition that is characterized by the accumulation of serous fluid within the auricular cartilage. It is a difficult condition to treat medically or surgically and many treatment modalities have been described in the literature. Definitive treatment remains controversial.</p> Aim <p>To study the effectiveness of creating a cartilage window using a derma punch in the treatment of pseudocyst pinna.</p> Methods <p>A prospective study was conducted at a tertiary care centre for a period of two years, which included 40 patients with pseudocyst pinna. All the patients were treated by excising a small cartilage window using derma punch and mastoid dressing was done for compression. They were followed up after 3 days, 7 days and 6 weeks postoperatively.</p> Results <p>All the 40 cases were completely resolved at the end of one month and none showed any recurrence. None of our patients had any postoperative complications like perichondritis or any other structural deformities.</p> Conclusion <p>The surgical treatment of pseudocyst pinna by making a cartilage window using a derma punch is an excellent modality of treatment for pseudocyst pinna because of easy availability, gives precise control, helps in easy handling of the cartilage while creating window with no surrounding cartilage damage, avoids irregular margins of the cartilage window and reduces the chance of perichondritis.</p>
