摘要

To compare the short-term and long-term outcomes of patients undergoing cold steel dissection adenotonsillectomy versus coblation adenotonsillectomy. This prospective comparative study was done in 70 patients undergoing adenotonsillectomy by cold steel dissection (group A) versus coblation (Group B) techniques to evaluate the postoperative outcomes. Postoperative pain, wound healing, requirement of analgesia, mean time of return to normal diet, mean time of activity resumption and voice changes were assessed. Postoperative pain score and requirement of analgesia beyond postoperative day 3 was significantly lower in group B whereas slough size formation was significantly higher in group A. Mean time of activity resumption was earlier in group B while there was no difference in mean time of return to normal diet. While GRBAS scale showed improvement in breathiness in both groups. The mean difference between preoperative and postoperative values of the above PRAAT parameters were not significant statistically.
