<p>Teachers are prone to vocal symptoms, which can have detrimental effects. Despite extensive literature, there is a lack of research on the relationship between stress, indoor air quality (IAQ), and vocal symptoms. The current study aims to explore the relationship between work-related stress, teachers’ self-reported vocal symptoms, and the IAQ of school buildings. Using a cross-sectional research design, 147 full-time teachers aged 21 to 60 from Kerala participated. Data was collected via a Google Forms questionnaire with informed consent. The questionnaire addressed seven types of vocal symptoms with response options of every day, every week, less frequently, and never. Background characteristics, work-related stress, IAQ complaints, and medical conditions like asthma were also assessed. Statistical analysis was performed using the Chi-square test. The study found that 67.3% of teachers had very mild vocal symptoms, 23.1% had mild symptoms, 7.5% had moderate symptoms, and 2.0% had severe symptoms. There was a significant correlation between vocal symptoms and IAQ (<i>p</i>-value .005), indicating a relationship between poor IAQ and severe vocal symptoms. Asthma did not significantly impact teachers’ perceptions of IAQ difficulties, with 52.4% reporting no issues. No significant relationships were found between vocal symptoms and variables such as age, years of experience, and work-related stress. This study underscores the role of environmental factors, especially IAQ, in affecting teachers’ vocal health. A significant link was found between IAQ and vocal symptom severity, while age, stress, experience, and asthma showed no such association. Perceived environmental discomforts may influence IAQ concerns more than health status. The findings highlight the need for improved IAQ in schools and increased awareness of vocal hygiene. Future research should include clinical assessments and expert IAQ evaluations for deeper insights.</p>
