摘要

This article examines discrimination against homeless individuals. Drawing on an empirical study, it demonstrates the extent to which discrimination manifests not only in the forms typically highlighted—such as direct devaluation, violent assaults, and denial of access—but also as an imposed categorization and, consequently, as a loss of control over one’s own self-definition. Building on this, the article goes on to demonstrate the extent to which, and the ways in which, the provision of recognition is significant for overcoming discrimination as well as homelessness as a whole.
