摘要

The article presents and analyzes the emergence and development of Zeit für Solidarität e. V. (Time for Solidarity)/(in Turkish: Dayanışma Zamanı) e. V. (ZfS) as a case study of how willingness to help mobilized in a crisis-related situation can be transformed into a lasting civil society structure. The starting point of the association’s development was the spontaneous emergency relief provided in response to the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria in February 2023. The networks, competencies, and forms of solidarity-based support that emerged in this context were not dissolved after the acute relief phase, but were further developed into local formats of solidarity and encounter.

At the center of the association’s activities are formats that combine practical assistance with encounter, participation, and local networking. ZfS strengthens both cohesion within the active group of the association and bridging contacts across boundaries of origin, milieu, and organization. In this context, migrant-led engagement becomes visible not as an object of assistance, but as an active contribution to shaping the common good. Theoretically, the development of the association is related to concepts of social capital, self-determination theory, and encounter research.

Overall, the article shows that crisis-related engagement can contribute in the long term to promoting social cohesion, local solidarity, and democratic participation.
