<p>In 2024, the child rights organisation terre des hommes published a&#xa0;report on child labour in Germany. The report draws attention to the fact that children continue to work even in this prosperous country. It particularly highlights activities and areas that have so far been largely ignored and in terms of work done by children. The report aims to close gaps in the Youth Employment Protection Act and to sensitise the relevant authorities to the problem of child labour. The recommendations amount to an extension of the ban on child labour and tighter controls. As this article will show, this does not achieve the goal of upholding children’s rights in the case of child labour.</p>
