<p>While climate-related disasters around the world have far-reaching effects on communities, countries, families and individuals worldwide, the social consequences have only been recognized in recent years. Social work has an important role to play here, but it is debatable whether social workers are adequately prepared for this. Based on an analysis of experiences in Australia and a&#xa0;gender perspective, the text addresses possible and necessary contributions of social work during the entire cycle of disasters and distinguishes between macro (beyond the community), meso (people’s relationships with organizations in the community) and micro (people’s relationships with each other in the event of a&#xa0;disaster) levels.</p>
