Printed dual band antenna fed by balanced line for convenient integration with printed circuit board

A compact printed dual band antenna of size 29 × 25 × 1.6 cu mm fed with parallel balanced line is communicated in this article. This feeding technique enables the convenient integration with Printed Circuit Board (PCB). This printed antenna can be used as an efficient WiMAX (3.5 GHz) band and Wifi (5 GHz) band radiator. The reflection coefficient or impedance band width of this antenna is 147 and 791 MHz at 3.5 and 5 GHz band, respectively. This antenna radiates with the measured gain of 2.3 and 5.5 dBi at 3.5 and 5 GHz, respectively. An electrical equivalent circuit model has been proposed to study the antenna’s electrical characteristics such as resonant frequency and port impedance at resonance. A simple technique to compute the passive elements of the circuit using simulated results obtained from CST studio suite simulator also discussed.
