<p>One of the blessings of being a teacher is the rare opportunity to come across one or two students with the attitude of a disciple seeking wisdom. Such students motivate me to offer something above and beyond the syllabus meant for the majority.</p><p>In an <i>Introduction to Probability/Statistics</i> course, based on [<CitationRef CitationID="CR1">1</CitationRef>], I used some games of chance to inspire such wisdom seekers. I hope my dear readers fall into this category and will assess the chances of winning in these games without rushing to judgment.</p>

摘要

One of the blessings of being a teacher is the rare opportunity to come across one or two students with the attitude of a disciple seeking wisdom. Such students motivate me to offer something above and beyond the syllabus meant for the majority.

In an Introduction to Probability/Statistics course, based on [1], I used some games of chance to inspire such wisdom seekers. I hope my dear readers fall into this category and will assess the chances of winning in these games without rushing to judgment.
