In situ study on stress-induced martensitic transformation of NiTi shape memory alloy
摘要
The stress-induced martensitic transformation behavior of NiTi shape-memory alloy was investigated via in situ tensile testing. The results show that, at a strain of 2%, slip traces appear within the austenite grains, and the corresponding volume fraction of martensite reaches 0.2%, indicating the occurrence of a stress-induced martensitic transformation. The types of martensitic variants differ among grains with different austenite grain orientations, demonstrating the occurrence of variant selection. Two martensitic variants, 5′(+) and 6′(−), precipitate within the austenite grains of orientation (4 −5 8)[−8 3 5], whereas two variants, 2(+) and 6(+), precipitate within the austenite grains of orientation (−3 4 8)[4 3 0].
