<p>This article highlights the recent activities of the EL PACCTO 2.0 programme in the field of artificial intelligence and organised crime. It analyses the future implementation of EL PACCTO’s Model Law on Artificial Intelligence and Crime (MLAIC), the main purpose of which is to provide for a legal framework that could fill substantive and procedural gaps and loopholes and facilitate the harmonisation of legal initiatives of countries with different legal systems to criminalise specific conducts committed and assisted through AI systems, including measures in procedural law, procedural safeguards, international cooperation measures and technical and material assistance in the context of organised criminal activities. The MLAIC offers an assessment of its potential impact in the modernisation of national laws to counter criminal activities committed and assisted through AI systems.</p>
