A diamino double-decker silsesquioxane as a reactive nanoadditive to enhance the corrosion resistance of an epoxy coating
摘要
A diamino double-decker silsesquioxane (DA-DDSQ) was synthesized and introduced into an epoxy coating in different mass fractions. Results show that the introduction of the DA-DDSQ enhances the hydrophobic performance and improves the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the epoxy coating, but slightly reduces the toughness. The water contact angle of the coatings increases from 91.5 without DA-DDSQ to 95.6° with 6% DA-DDSQ content. The abrasion value of the coatings after 1000 friction cycles decreases from 26 to 19 mg, and the impact toughness of the coatings decreases from 45 to 40 cm with the increase in DA-DDSQ content from 0 to 6%. After being soaked in 3.5 wt% sodium chloride solution for 25 days, the epoxy coating with 6% DA-DDSQ content still has a relatively high impedance value with |Z|f= 0.01 Hz of 3.09 × 108 Ω cm2, which is much higher than that of the epoxy coating without DA-DDSQ (3.70 × 107 Ω cm2). These developed properties would make the epoxy coatings with DA-DDSQ promising for application in the corrosion resistance field.
