Purpose of Review <p>To describe the incidence, prevention and treatment of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) among patients with cancer.</p> Recent Findings <p>Many cancer therapeutics can predispose to HFpEF, including anthracyclines, radiation, hematopoietic stem cell transplant, vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitors, proteasome inhibitors, BCR-Abl inhibitors, anti-androgen therapy, immune checkpoint inhibitors. HFpEF has been understudied in cancer patients in part because definitions of cancer therapy related cardiac dysfunction have required a decrease in left ventricular ejection fraction. Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors are being studied for the prevention of cancer therapeutic related cardiac dysfunction and may be useful for the prevention of HFpEF in the setting of cancer treatment.</p> Summary <p> Management of HFpEF among cancer survivors combines existing treatment paradigms for non-cancer patients with a nuanced understanding of the increased cardiovascular risk secondary to cancer and cancer therapy. Future research should clearly define HFpEF as an outcome. </p>

Purpose of Review

To describe the incidence, prevention and treatment of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) among patients with cancer.
