摘要

Purpose of Review

To review the latest advancements in medical management and future therapeutic directions in peripheral artery disease (PAD), focusing on enhancing symptom management and improving long-term cardiovascular outcomes.

Recent Findings

Individuals with PAD have increased likelihood of major adverse cardiovascular events, including myocardial infarction, stroke, and cardiovascular mortality. Medical interventions have demonstrated efficacy in mitigating the risk of major adverse cardiovascular and limb events and in enhancing functional status in PAD patients through the modulation of pivotal disease-determining pathways, including inflammation, vascular dysfunction, and metabolic disturbances. The landscape of PAD management is evolving, with several promising treatments currently under investigation, including regenerative therapies, tissue engineering and biomaterials, nanotechnology, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant therapies, and molecular therapies.

Summary

Current and evolving therapies offer promising avenues for treating PAD by addressing underlying mechanisms, improving tissue regeneration, and targeting disease process with precision.
