Redesigning Mental Health Care: Core Principles for Integrating Systems, Technology and Clinical Workflows
摘要
A growing number of digital tools promise to mitigate provider shortages and improve patient outcomes, helping to ease ongoing challenges in psychiatry and mental health. However, technological advancements are not likely to drive improvements in care on their own. To realize the value of new technology, health systems will need new care models, infrastructure, and workflow. The purpose of this review is to introduce the concept of care redesign, and the importance of using health-specific approaches to improve the delivery and quality of mental healthcare.
Recent findingsEmerging digital tools and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities are providing new opportunities to reduce administrative burden and improve prevention and individualized mental health treatment, while enabling more integrated and whole-person care delivery that supports patient-centered experiences and population-level impact.
SummaryA successful future will pair innovation with foundational care redesign principles to effectively improve patient and provider experiences.
