Management of Gastric Varices, Including Current & Emerging Endoscopic Techniques and Interventional Radiology Procedures
摘要
Purpose of Review
The purpose of this article is to review the current state of knowledge regarding management of gastric varices.
Recent FindingsWith emergence of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), new techniques for management of gastric varices are being utilized with high technical success and good safety profile in comparison to prior direct endoscopic therapies. Interventional Radiology procedures have also evolved as salvage therapy options when endoscopic treatment fails to achieve hemostasis.
SummaryWhile promising, further research is warranted to establish standardized protocols, evaluate long-term efficacy and safety, and define the role of EUS in the comprehensive management of gastric varices.
