摘要

Purpose of the Review

The primary aim of this review was to compile and analyze the different treatments for sexual dysfunction among men with Neurogenic Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction (NLUTD).

Recent Findings

A PRISMA scoping review was conducted of sources from 2019 to 2024 which addressed neurogenic bladder and sexual dysfunction. The review found there are various treatments for sexual dysfunction in the neurogenic bladder population including: lubricants, mechanical aids, pelvic floor physical therapy, medications, neuromodulation and surgery. Treatment modalities which have the most evidence include pelvic floor physical therapy, medications, onabotulinumtoxin A, and neuromodulation.

Conclusion

Studies tended to focus on either bladder or sexual dysfunction rather than both outcomes. Of the studies which assessed the impact for both, sexual dysfunction was typically analyzed as a secondary outcome. Therefore, further investigation is needed to assess sexual dysfunction as a primary outcome in this population.
