摘要

Purpose of Review

This narrative review aims to explore the incidence, pathophysiology, and management of cystitis after prostate surgery and/or radiotherapy.

Recent Findings

Pelvic irradiation can lead to radiation-induced cystitis (RC) as significant late complication, with chronic haematuria and reduced bladder compliance that can be effectively managed with conservative measures in most cases, especially if early intervention is performed. Post-procedural cystitis after prostatic surgery is commonly linked to catheter-related infections or prolonged catheterization.

Summary

Cystitis remains a challenging morbidity after prostate interventions. Early recognition and tailored management strategies are crucial to avoid potential life-threatening complications, improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
