摘要

Using the dataset of China’s 275 cities during the period 2011–2020, this study explores the spatial spillover effect and dynamic effect of digital economy on carbon emission efficiency (CEE) by constructing the dynamic spatial panel model (DSPM). The main conclusions are as follows: CEE shows significant spatial agglomeration and spatial spillover characteristics. Mechanism test indicates that digital economy can improve CEE through energy utilization efficiency, technological innovation and industrial structure optimization. The impact of the digital economy on CEE varies depending on geographical location, regional differences, resource endowments, and population size. The results prove the significant impact of digital economy on CO2 emissions and economic development. The environmental and economic effects of digital economy should be valued by the government.
