<p>Sustainable soil management is essential in coastal Bangladesh due to increasing salinity, soil degradation, and climate-induced agricultural challenges. This study examines the relationship between agricultural training and the adoption of sustainable practices by coastal farmers of Bangladesh, particularly in the area of soil management. The study uses a combination of descriptive statistics and econometric techniques to compare the coastal farmers of Bagerhat, Khulna, and Satkhira who have received training or not. About 450 farmers were considered for this study and data were collected through face-to-face interviews. The Propensity Score Matching (PSM) method was used to estimate the Average Treatment Effect on the Treated (ATT) for soil management practices. The results show that the trained farmers exhibit significantly higher adoption rates of sustainable soil management practices, particularly Zero tillage and green manure application compared to their untrained counterparts. While the effect on crop residue retention remains weak and statistically insignificant. Training increases adoption of zero tillage by approximately 4.2% and green manure by 11.8%, while effects on crop residue retention (3.1%) are statistically insignificant. Yield comparison results show that training is associated with higher productivity for several crops. However, yield advantages are not uniform across all crop types, indicating that training effectiveness varies by crop and context. These findings highlight the need for more targeted and context-specific training programs to promote sustainable farming practices. Future research should focus on evaluating training outcomes by type and conducting cost–benefit analyses of such interventions.</p>
