Effect of Processing Routes on the Electrocatalytic Behavior of a Single-Phase Co25Cr20Fe25Ni25V5 High-Entropy Alloy
摘要
For the first time, the effect of processing methods such as spark plasma sintering and rolling on the electrocatalytic behavior was evaluated on a single-phase face-centered cubic (FCC) Co25Cr20Fe25Ni25V5 high-entropy alloy (HEA). The investigated spark plasma-sintered (SPSed) HEA exhibits better electrocatalytic performance with a low Tafel slope of 189 mVdec-1 and overpotential of − 275.4 mV to attain a current density of 10 mAcm-2 for HER and good stability for 24 h for both HER and OER compared to other reported HEAs. Moreover, for this SPSed HEA to achieve water splitting at a current density of 10 mAcm-2, a low cell potential of 1.64 V is needed. SPSed HEA has notable stability in water splitting for 24 h. The present work paves the way for the choice of optimal processing method comprehension of HEA as an affordable bifunctional substitute for the water-splitting reaction.
